Face to face

How many of you Christians are like me – you study, study, study God's Word and, just when you think you reach some level of biblical knowledge or insight, you realize you know nothing. Just when you reach a height of understanding, you look up to see another peak towering over you. In Psalm 139:6 David confesses that God's perfect knowledge of man is "too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain it."

God's omniscience, omnipresence and omnipotence humble David. Finite humans cannot fully comprehend an infinite God. The apostle Paul acknowledges this shortcoming in 1 Corinthians 13:9-12, yet hints at a future window of revelation:

For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away . . . . For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

It's hard even to imagine – beholding the face of Messiah Yeshua. We also see this promise in 1 John 3:2 – "We know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." Believers will have eternity to learn from the Teacher personally. All our tough biblical questions will be answered with 100 percent accuracy, and we no longer will have to be wary of false shepherds and false teachers. Come quickly, Adonai!

Great, now I'm homesick. Thank you for reminding me that I don't know everything. I get a little prideful the longer I've been away from my Bible. Go figure. It's been since Sunday and it feels like it's been months.

Jeff, I can identify with this perfectly! The more I learn the more I realize I have much more to learn!

When all is revealed, it will be a great time when His Truth is upheld! It will also be humbling and hold us in awe.

This puts a whole new nuance on the "Shock and Awe Campaign" eh? LOL!

The longer I walk with our Lord, the more I realize (on a daily basis!), how very little I know about the richness and greatness of all that He has done for us, and all that He has in store for us.

Thanks for such an encouraging reminder, Jeff!!
