Here we go again

God's judgment typically is measure for measure. Ignoring Biblical warnings about dividing the land of Israel, the Bush Administration in 2005 supported the forced evacuations of Gush Katif, leaving thousands of Israeli Jews homeless and destitute. A tropical depression formed near the Bahamas a day after the final Gaza evacuation. Two days later it was upgraded to Hurricane Katrina, a monster storm that would ravage New Orleans and leave thousands homeless and destitute. Katrina hit as bulldozers were demolishing Jewish homes and synagogues.

Condi Rice doesn't get it. Last week the secretary of state demanded more land concessions from Israel, including the division of Jerusalem. Now Hurricane Gustav, "the mother of all storms," according to New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, is rumbling toward Louisiana on the third anniversary of Katrina. Condi was bullying Israel last week to surrender the West Bank. New Orleans surrendered its low-lying West Bank today with an evacuation order.

Rabbi Lazer Brody, who wrote about Condi's blindness here, says Gustav in Hebrew is the numerical equivalent of 80, identical to a segment in 1 Chronicles 9:1 – "And Judea was exiled."
